Then and Now |
A post on Flannery's blog...made me think of stars then and now. She had a post with a picture of Neil Patrick Harris. He's on How I Met Your Mother. All I could think of was Doogie Howser MD.
Can you say total geek gone babe!
So then I thought of a couple others that went the same thing. Remember Anthony Micheal Hall? He was that geeky blonde kid in Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, and Wierd Science.
Well it took me about 3 episodes of Dead Zone to recognize him. I'm not one for watching the credits.
And just so the guys don't think I'm ignoring the women who have gotten much better as they have aged...How abut Sarah Jessica Parker? ANyone remember the 1 season that Square Pegs was on? Shes' the one on the left.
Of course we all know her from Sex in the City! Looking at all of these actors...we all know there are some that have not aged well, but the majority get even better as they age. I wish I was going to age this well! |

I stole this from Red |
I stole this from Red's blog. And just FYI for those of you being so sweet in encouraing me...it's been a whole week since I've had a smoke. That's a first since 1989!
1. Have you ever been searched by the cops? Yeah one time but it wasn't a real great search. Too bad, the cop was cute.
2. Do you close your eyes on roller coasters? Yes, I love closing my eyes, it makes me feel like I'm flying. It's a natural high, then I don't have to go looking for that perscription for my glaucoma medicine.
3. When's the last time you've been sledding? About two years ago, I rather go skiing though. The only upside to sledding is when you take out a whole row of people you aren't wearing big clunkly boots that keep you from running from the angry mob.
4. Would you rather sleep with someone else, or alone? With with! I am a huge freeze baby and I would much rather have some nice warm person curled up with me.
5. Do you believe in ghosts? Is ghosts the politically correct term? Shouldn't it be life challenged or or possibly body challenged? Yes, I believe in spirits.
6. Do you consider yourself creative? Sort of. I can be creative in certain things, not in others. I'll let you use your imagination to figure out what I am creative in.
7. Do you think O.J. killed his wife? Yeah, but at this late date nobody really cares anymore.
8. Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie? Hmmm. Jennifer is this sweet little thing and Angelina puts off this tough bitch aura.I think I'll take Angelina. Now, considering I'm straight what do I do with her.
9. Do you stay friends with your ex's? Some, not others. My exhusband I wish I would have tattooed "asshole" across his forehead before I kicked his ass out. Some just sort of fade away. Others stick around and end up being better friends that they were lovers.
10. Do you know how to play poker? Oh yeah! I am a poker champ. I won $3.75 the last poker night.
11. Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight? Yes, you are talking to a raging insomniac. And Raging is the word for it. By about the 36 hour mark I was completely out of control. Hanging out the car window screaming at the little old lady trying to cross the street to get the lead out. Telling the kids to tell their teachers I was tired of signing all the fricking paperwork, that I had graduated from that grade already. It was not a pretty picture. My husband finally distracted me with a glass of wine and the knocked me unconscious.
12. What's your favorite commercial? Silly as it seems I like the old Tootsie Pop commercial with the animated owl asking how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop. I also like the Diet Coke one with the guys naked chest.
13. What are you allergic to? Anything that would help me if I get sick. Penicillin, Morphine and Iodine. The Penicillin and Iodine give me a terrible rash and the Morphine makes me blow up like a balloon.
14. If you're driving in the middle of the night, and no one is around, do you run red lights? No, my luck there is a copy sitting in the Dunkin Donut parking lot a half a block up the road. I've already been searched, (thankfully not cuffed by a cop), taken in, had my license suspended. I don't need anything else on my record.
15. Do you have a secret that no one knows but you? Nope, I'm pretty much an open book. Ask me anything and it's a pretty sure bet I'll tell you the answer.
16. Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees? Neither, I don't really care for baseball.
17. Have you ever been Ice Skating? Ice skating, Ice falling, Ice kissing (when I fall face first) Ice screaming, Ice begging...yeah.
18. How often do you remember your dreams? I remember bits and pieces usually. The last one had something to do with jelly and jam. I filled in the rest in my daydreams.
19. When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried? Earlier this week when a woman was commenting on how much gum I was chewing. She made a comment that I must have really strong jaws. I just looked over and told her that my husband liked that about me. She almost died laughing and I was laughing at her turning so red.
20. Can you name 5 songs by The Beatles? ummm... Sgt Pepper's something Yellow Battleship or something like that Yeah yeah yeah That's all I can come up with...
21. What's the one thing on your mind now? Whether I'm going to have time to do everything this weekend. Football game, Cross Country Meet, Band O Rama, Manicure, Homecoming Dress shopping, Homework with the kids, Laundry, Baking, General House work, and so on and so forth...
22. Do you believe in love at first sight? Yes, but lust at first sight is more fun.
23. Do you know who Ghetto-ass Barbie is? No, unfortunately I live in a little white bread suburd and the only Barbie they allow in is Tight Ass Barbie.
24. Do you always wear your seat belt? No, I should, I feel so ashamed that I don't but I find it a pain in the ass.
25. what cell service do you use? I'm supposed to have my cell's serviced. Crap, I bet I'm out of warranty now.
26. Do you like Sushi? ick.
27. Have you ever narrowly avoided a fatal accident? No, but if you take the 4 car accidents I've had and combined them it would have killed me.
28. What do you wear to bed? (big grin) Nada
29. Have you ever been caught stealing? Yeah, my husband keeps a closer eye on his chocolate now.
30. what shoe size do you have? canoe size...10's
31. Do you truly hate anyone? My ex husband for a long time. While I still wish I could have gotten him that tattoo, the hate has mellowed to pity now. I have 2 lovely girls that he will never know.
32. Classic Rock or Rap? Neither...80's! Give it another 10 or 20 years and it will be considered classic.
33. If you could sleep with one famous person, who would it be? Ohhh, let me think. Ummm, how about Harrison Ford, it with him or Sean Connery. I like em with experience.
34. Are you a virgin? Sure...I can do that. Do you like the Catholic school girl uniforms too?
35. Have you ever sung in front of the mirror? NO! I was asked not to come back to the choir class in 8th grade. If they couldn't take me singing in a group what makes you think I'm going to sing watching myself?
36. What food do you find disgusting? vegetables
37. Do you sing in the shower? See 35.
38. Did you ever play, "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours"? No, I played Show mine and rip off your clothes to get to yours.
39. Have you ever made fun of your friends behind their backs? Behind their backs, in front of their faces. My friends now they are not safe from me making fun of them, and I don't consider myself safe.
40. Have you ever been bitten by a rabid chinchilla during mating season in Amsterdam? No, since I haven't been over seas yet we had to import the chinchilla to Ohio. I'm sure the experience wasn't quite the same. |

On the Wagon Again |
Well, I am trying to quit smoking again. I have been smoking regularly since I was 16...so almost 20 years. I have tried to quit several times. We will see how it goes this time. Last time I tried to quit I decided to quit trying to quit until Jennifer moved out. Well, she moved out this summer so that stressor is gone. I have a 21mg patch on my arm. I bought Blow Pops (keep the remarks to yourself Orange) and bubble gum at BJ's. I haven't had a smoke since 10pm last night so it is well over 12 hours now. The problem is, I'm scared to leave the house. Many of my friends smoke. My parents and sister smoke. There are places on almost ever corner to buy them...(sigh) I'm going to go eat a late lunch then barricade myself in my room again. Anyone who want's to say hi, my Yahoo Messanger is up...the ID is gothamny. |

Another Bad night! |
I hate insomnia...hate it, hate it, hate it!!! (stamping my feet and whining) I finally made an appointment with my doctor and hopefully this will be my last week of this crap. It's been getting progressivly worse over the years. First I contributed it to school, I was used to staying up late working n papers and projects. I have no excuse now. I need to sleep. I will say once I get to sleep I have no problems. I will sleep for 7 to 10 hours. Getting my brain to shut down for the time it takes me to get there is my problem. I have tried reading, meditation, TV, music, white noise, essential oils, counting sheep, counting wolves chasing the sheep...you name it, I've tried it. So now I'm going to try perscription strength medication. (I've tried over the counter...2 Tylenol PM don't even make a dent...hell 2 Tylenol PM and a giant glass of wine don't make a dent.) The only good side to it...I get a lot of reading done. (sigh) |

And it Begins Again! |
And so, school starts again... What a week! Trying to get back into the routine of kicking asses out of beds and getting them to their respective schools and myself to work. Ahhh what joy. I told hubby one year he has got to stay home for the first day of school, to enjoy the cussing, and moaning, and eye rolling...and that's just from me. Plus help me fill out the 50 pounds of paperwork these kids bring home for me to fill out. This year we had a few jitters as 3 of the kids are freshmen at the high school. Mandy and Megan weren't as bad as they could have been since they both had already started activities (cross country and marching band) where they interacted with upper class men. The big worry was getting lost. But the first week has now come and gone and everyone seems rather comfortable. Laura is enjoying being a big 8th grader. We dyed her hair black again and she is having fun with her clothing. The goth girl is back! Mandy has been diagnosed with exercised induced asthma. She now takes a pill and has an inhaler that she uses before x-country practice. She says it helps a lot, and today I say the improvement. Even with the rain we had (thanks to some hurricane/tropical storm) she shaved a minutes and 40 second off her time from last week's race! If some told me to run a 5k in 24 minutes or less, I'd probably laugh myself silly...but she does it and loves it and now she's doing even better. And the last big event of the week is realizing another ravage of time. The possibility of carpal tunnel syndrome. My right thumb kills me if I type too long. I guess over 10 years of typing and 10-key have finally made their presence known. When I mentioned how it hurt at work a woman there told me it was a classic symptom. I freaked out. All I could think of were the things about the sugeries they do for that. I don't like thing sticking out of my hands. The few times I have had surgeries I have made them put the IV in my wrist rather than the back of my hand (except when I had the c-section, but I was so out of it then they could have put a gun to my head and I wouldn't have noticed.) So I immediately got a promise from her to bring in some papers she had that have exercises listed on them to help, and then went and bought a brace to help keep my wrist and thumb positioned correctly. Well, that was my week. Sorry about skipping HNT, but I had to work late and finish up the last of the damn paperwork from the schools. I'll write more about the schools soon. They pissed me off early this year. (5 more years...5 more years) Hope everyone is having a good Labor Day Weekend! |
