Just keep swimming;swimming;swimming...
I wish it was as easy for me as it is for Dory. For those of you not familiar with Finding Nemo, it's a lost reference. I paid $45 for a 3 month membership to a swim club by my work. I don't swim well, and I have a fear of water, but I needed to find some way to get some exercise.
I work a rotating shift at work and today I didn't have to be there until 10am, so I packed up my bag and went to the pool. I swam for about 20 minutes. For me, that is long time. I am a natural couch potato. As I stated before, I am not a good swimmer so my swimming could be called erratic at best. I would do part in a side stroke, flip over for the back stroke. Sometime I would get tired and walk in the sections where I could touch, but I kept moving for the entire 20 minutes.
My legs are killing me!!!
I can not sit in one position for very long, the muscles start to cramp. I am hoping to sleep well tonight. I will go swimming again on Friday morning when I don't have to be into work until 10:30am.
Weigh in was today and I have lost a total of 10.8 pounds!!! To put that another way that is about 8 medium size cantaloupes. I got a little bookmark and a sticker in my weigh in book. Kind of silly when you think about it, but it does make you feel good knowing you are losing.
Thinking to what my goal weight is though, I have a long way to go. I want to get down to what I was when I got out of the military. Orange is probably the only one here who remembers what I looked like at that weight.
I'm going to go, my legs are starting to hurt again.

Watching the Weight
Sorry it's been awhile since I updated. Between being sick, getting into a routine with the kids in school, I've been really busy.
I've been looking over my life a little a decided there is some room for self improvement in several areas.
To start with I am overweight. I do not look vastly overweight because of my height (5'10") but I am verging on obese. Because of this I have decided to join Weight Watchers. My goal is 145lbs. Which means I have to lose a little less than 60lbs. I like the program. Based on my weight I have a certain amount of points that I can use each day. I try to at healthy but as long as I am careful I rarely go over my points.
The other thing that I needed to improve was my organization. I would clean the house and the kids would trash it. I would feel so overwhelmed that I would just not clean it again. I found The FlyLady! It's a great way to keep my house and life more organized. My house is clean and I rarely feel like I have spent much time cleaning. It is a wonderful system. The website is great but I would also recommend reading her book as well.
I have other issues I need to work on as well, such as smoking, but I figured only one or two things at a time. Once I get my weight down I'll start on that again.
Anyone that knows some good Weight Watcher recipes, please share. I am collecting them.
Thanks!

Biological Warfare
Sick sick sick...the kids are in school for less than two weeks and the girls and I are both sick. Seems it started in Mandy's choir class and went through all of us pretty well. Had to take a sick day today because I feel so crappy. Those schools are nothing but little germ factories. I don't know how anyone can be a teacher...including you Orange. I would be sick all the time. I swear I am going to start making the kids spray down with Lysol before I let them enter the house!!! Now excuse me while I go take my Dayquil, drink my orange juice and sit on the couch with my box of tissues.
